Quick and easy knee protection - Emma Thomas. Horse and Hound - May 22, 2002 (Knee Brushing Boots)
A new design from Westropp is an easy alternative to fitting separate knee and brushing boots
Even the most sure-footed horse can slip on the roads or trip on uneven terrain. Broken knees can be a serious injury taking many months to heal and often leaving unsightly scars.
Knee boots offer excellent protection to this delicate area and there are many types and styles available.
B
ut if you are in a rush it can be tempting not to bother fitting them as they can often be quite fiddly.
Westropp have an developed the ideal solution - a Neoprene brushing boot with a built in kneepad. It offers a strike pad on the inside of the leg, aswell as one on the knee area.
Three Velcro straps hold the boot firmly in place, while the back of the knee area is free from any straps.

Your Horse Tried and Tested Gear Guide (Turnout Boots)
The Turnout Boot from Westropp was a tough boot with lots of very secure fastenings for a close fit and a reasonable price.
Good boots and competitively priced with easy-to-follow instructions. The boots could be altered to fit all leg shapes – the Velcro was hard to undo at first, but this improved. They covered well down towards the heel, but left the top of the heel vulnerable. The boots were used for daytime turnout and as travel boots. They didn’t slip and the horses’ legs didn’t sweat except in extremely hot temperatures when the legs chafed.
Washing brought them back to an ˜as new’ state. Tough boots that were well-finished and looked comfortable.

Review on Horse Tack Review in 2004 for Westropp Over Reach boot - 18 years after the launch.
Purchase: I bought these so long ago that I can't remember where I got them from.
Likes: These bell boots are the most DURABLE bell boots I have ever used. They have stood up to over 8 years of use on several different horses. After 8 years my Westropp Petals Bell Boots are now at the point of being retired. I'll buy a new set with 4 extra straps, and use my old boots for replacement petals. The boots are COMFORTABLE for the horse. I have not had these rub on any horse. The Westropp Petal Bell Boots are AFFORDABLE!
Dislikes: The boots are HARD TO FIND! The STRAPS have a tendency to wear out quickly (about once every two years), but are cheap and easy to replace. I have had to replace a few PETALS along the way, so I would reccommend buying a Spare Petal Package when you purchase them.
Not a "bad" thing about the boots, actually I like the fact that you can replace the petals.
Quality: The boots do their job.
Summary: I would reccommend these boots to anyone! These are great for young horses as well since the boots make a clicking noise (which is why they're sometimes refered to as "clicker" bell boots) when the horse puts their feet down - good for young horses to get used to.
